A traditional Sam Smiths Pub with real fires throughout, the décor is homely with lots of wood panelling, the entrance hall has a hatch for off sales a tradition of days gone by. To the right is a spacious games room cum vault and on the left is a snug which opens out into a large lounge area, the walls are hung with old photographs of the now defunct ship canal railway, engines, rolling stock, goods wagons etc.

Only one cask ale is offered. The keg beers include both Light and Dark Mild (2.8% ABV), Alpine Lager (also 2.8%), Taddy Lager and Stout.

Wednesday nights are either Quiz Night or Bingo night (they alternate).
