This Pub is Permanently Closed

Former Watney pub. Closed c.1999 and demolished by 2002 possibly following a fire.

A 1989 review stated:-

Railway Hotel style — large and comfortable in a faded way. Lots of railway pictures on the walls. Irish/Country style music upstairs at weekends, downstairs has modern groups. One of the venues for performances of "The Who"; the pub features on one of their record covers.
