The new owners (Kevin and Rebecca Swales, Bella Pubs Group) have undertaken the first phase of the refurbishment of the pub (March 2026) with ambitious plans to refurbish the barn with pool tables and darts lanes and further ahead open up the pub's seven accommodation rooms.
Historic Interest
Large timbered inn with parts dating from 16th cent. Reported at 17 High Street in 1881 & 19 in 1891. Historically listed as a commercial & family hotel & posting house. Good accomm. for cyclists in 1900. Also a Victorian brewery was located here. Assembly rooms are mentioned here in 1900, 1912 & 1922 directories.
