Village inn, on a back street. Garden with lovely views across the valley. This grade II listed asset of community value dates back to the 1700s and may have been a former farmhouse. The last pub in this nice sleepy village, strange to think, that once there were possibly as many as eight pubs.

The Punch Bowl Inn, Burton in Lonsdale Ltd..

A community group (Punch Bowl Inn, Burton in Lonsdale Ltd a Community Benefit Society) campaigned to save the pub. A bid was submitted to the government Community Ownership Fund (COF). They also launched a share offer. In August 2024 they had raised £245,798 of a target of £275,000, the society has 342 members. In Dec 2024 they were awarded a Community Ownership Scheme grant of £300K. By Feb 2025 they had raised £298,388 with 359 shareholders. The society completed the purchase on the 4th July 2025. They have commenced refurbishing the pub with volunteer support. In July 2025 the started to recruit a manager to run the pub.
