This Pub is Permanently Closed

For about six years from 2009, The Pub featured a wide range of real ales, many from microbreweries; plus many continental draught and bottled beers. In 2015, it closed and most of the building was demolished (the front elevation to New Walk was retained). Having been rebuilt, the former pub area was reopened as an office.

Historic Interest

Historically, this was a plain town local owned by John Smith's brewery, the 'De Montfort', which fronted on to Wellington Street. A building was acquired on New Walk and the premises knocked-through; at a later date the Wellington Street side was closed off.
