This Pub is Permanently Closed
Large former Birkenhead Brewery road house built in 1930s in mock Tudor style.
Historic Interest
Opened in 1939, a Birkenhead Brewery pub serving Whitbread beers in the 1980s. Described in 1990 as a large pub with contrasting sides to the lounge which caters for both young and more mature tastes. Closed in 2013 following the discovery of a cannabis farm above the pub, reopened then closed again after only 10 months in October 2014 due to poor trade and inability of the owners to find a tenant. An application for it to be listed as an Asset of Community Value was rejected by the council in July 2015 on the grounds that it was unlikely to be a viable business. The pub was demolished in November 2016.
