The Paul Pry is the place to be in Rayleigh. Situated on the High Street, close to the town centre, our pub welcomes regulars, business people and families. Dating back to the Tudor times the pub has kept its traditional qualities. The name 'Paul Pry' originates from the 1823 play by John Paul - Paul Pry being cast as a busybody, unable to mind his own business. The name stuck and has applied to eavesdroppers and busybodies ever since. In Victorian times there was even a scandalous news sheet published under the same name. A local pub welcome and friendly service as well as a wide range of pub food and drink at great value prices. Popular pub for enjoying watching sport or other entertainment and all of the family are welcome. Large beer garden has seating for no less than 120 people so a popular haunt on sunny days. The pub is split with two bars on different levels. The downstairs area welcomes children whereas the upstairs bar has a number of of TVs which are popular with sports fans. 4 real ales are served and 1 cider - pub even has little jars by each hand pump to show what each ale looks like.
