This Pub is Permanently Closed
The lease was taken over in August 2018 from Salt Yard Group by Urban Pubs & Bars although they have subsequently handed back the lease. There is now one draught lager available. Further updates for this site welcome. Previous descriptions follow.
Ornate lounge bar, refurbished in 2003, with polished flooring, raised rear area and an attractive bay window frontage. Additional seating is available in the first floor Baddeley bar, which is also a dining area. Licensed in 1791 as the Yorkshire Gray and later the Sheridan Knowles until 1863, when renamed after another tavern in the Haymarket. Rebuilt in 1880 to the design of George Treacher at a cost of £4,863.
Reopened January 2011 as an independent ‘tapas bar and restaurant’ albeit with one keg beer, ex-M&B (Nicholsons). Little remains of the traditional pub’s fixtures and fittings.
