The Old Library was built in 1913, closed in 1999, used as offices & rehearsal / performance space for Staffordshire Music and Performing Arts until sold by the council in 2011 and left empty and deteriorating until conversion to a bar, grill & restaurant in 2019.

Historic Interest
In 1913 the foundation stone for the ‘New Free Library' was laid down by the Mayor, Cllr. C W Miller. It was designed by the Liverpool architects Briggs, Wolstenholme and Thornely and part funded by Andrew Carnegie. The library opened in 1914.
