Traditional 18th Century vernacular stone building with a flagstone roof and several areas inside including a restaurant that serves exceptionally good food (now all day, daily). This community-focused establishment attracts people from all walks of life. There is live folk music each Wednesday (for details see website) The pub is an ideal start or finish torural walks along the route of the former Barnsley Canal. Disabled access to toilets requires leaving building and re-entry on lower restaurant level. Listed as a Building of Local Importance. The dining area is named as Lock Eleven from the nearby derelict Barnsley Canal
