This Club is Permanently Closed
This is a club, which means that the bar may be only open to members.
The Club did not survive the Covid pandemic and closed permanently in 2021. Its members were offered up to five years free membership of the Army & Navy Club. As at December 2021 it was reported that the building had been sold for £35m. and would be turned into a private mansion house. At 11 April 2022 there was a legal notice in The Times including the text "That the company be wound up voluntarily".
Previous description follows:
Founded in 1919 as the RNVR (Auxiliary Patrol) Club it took its present name in 1969. Since 1946 it has owned its premises, once occupied by the 2nd Earl of Chatham.
The building is still today the HQ of the RNVR Officers' Association and in 1954 the site was dedicated as a War Memorial to the RNVR and houses its Roll of Honour.
Membership is now open to all those having a connection to or interest in maritime matters; corporate membership is also available.
As may be expected, the Club contains an extensive collection of naval art, books and other memorabilia. Dining, bar and accommodation facilities are available to members and their guests.
