Extensively refurbished in 2025, the National Tap is home to nearby Grey Trees Brewery. Housed in the former National School building in the centre of Aberdare, Tap offers up to 6 real ales (5 from the Grey Trees range plus one guest), 7 craft kegs and 2 real ciders. Highly Commended in the 2024 Mid Glamorgan Branch Pub of the Year compeition.
