This Restaurant is Permanently Closed
This is a restaurant, where drinking alcohol, including draught and bottled beer, is only allowed when food is being consumed.
A very popular Courage house when trading as the White Lion, many years ago. It changed its name when the then new Royal Mail sorting office opened on the nearby site of the old Mill Street railway station and yard. It continued to sell real ale until eventually closing. Now trading as a Polish restaurant. There is a plaque on the wall which says" On this day on September 5, 1872 nothing happened", droll.
