Set in the Natural World Heritage Site of Lulworth Cove on the Jurassic Coast, the pub is almost 400 years old and has links to King Henry VIII, Napoleon and Thomas Hardy. Originally a mail stagecoach stop on the road from Wareham, later a haven for smugglers who brought ashore French lace, brandy and other contraband. It now has a comfortable, contemporary interior with large windows that look across the outside seating area towards the cove.
