Micropub opened 28/02/2014.
Opened in 2014, the Butcher's Hook is a micropub in a converted shop unit serving up to 3 constantly-changing cask beers, a wide range of KeyKeg beers and a fridge full of bottles and cans from across the UK, Europe and the US.
Situated behind the Bittern Park Monument, 'The Hook' is easily accessible via local bus routes and is a short walk from Bitterne railway station.
Over the years this premises has been a butchers, with the original tiling and butchers rails still in place, an art supplies shop and also a florist. The compact interior (just just 3.5m x 9m) makes for a lively and sociable drinking environment with seating for about 24 people. There is no bar and service is standing up at the stillage. The Wednesday and Thursday sessions tend to be quieter but weekends can get quite busy and it's possible the real ale could be in limited supply by Sunday.
The venue regularly holds beer based events, meet the brewer days and their infamous Pie Night! All of their latest up and comings can be found on their website and social media, as well as a regularly updated beer list.
No food is served, but bar snacks are available and take-away food from local eateries is encouraged.
