This Pub is Closed Long Term
Fully licensed craft beer tap room.
Opened July 24th 2015, on the corner of of the Royal Opera Arcade, and owned/run by the same people who run Pall Mall Fine Wine just down the Arcade, this new bar offers nine rotating and changing weekly craft beers (keykeg) and around 50-60 bottled beers from London and around the world 'curated' by the Beer Collective. One at least on our visit was bottle conditioned (Pressure Drop Bosko IPA) and a number are unfiltered and unpasteurised. A friendly and young bar staff will need to learn more about the products (what's cask or bottle conditioned) and we'll happily oblige. Cask ale is likely to come, and even a small scale brewing set-up is contemplated for the tiny cellar. This one room bar (15 foot x 20 foot) is snug - 10-15 would be a crowd - enticing and welcoming and there are tables and chairs outside in the Arcade and King Charles II Street. The Royal Opera Arcade itself is listed Grade I and built 1816-18 by John Nash and G.R. Repton, and is the surviving portion of their recasing and completion of Novosielski's Haymarket Opera House. Stucco faced brick, slated and glazed lantern roof. The arcade links Charles II Street to Pall Mall. It is the earliest London arcade on the Parisian late C.18/early C.19 model of "passages" and "galleries" (Thanks to Historic England) and well worth visiting if only for that! Oddly - or maybe this is the new Zeitgeist - the draught beers are served in 2/3 and 1 pint glasses. Prices reflect the location. The venue has occasional festivals and beer tastings so browse their website or social media for What's On.
