Historic Interest
At the heart of the Kinsley Evictions in 1905. The landlord at the time of the Kinsley Evictions of 1905, a key event in Yorkshire mineworkers' history was Thomas Elstone, who turned the pub's ballroom into a dormitory for the children and provided camping for the adults evicted by the local coal owners in a rent dispute. The local Twixt Aire and Calder Website is a wonderful starting point to learn more about this event. Outgang Terrace in Kinsley was where newlyweds probably had their first house.
Once one of the four Boddingtons pubs in West Yorkshire - beer was formerly fetched in by rail to local station!
