Former owners Scottish & Newcastle styled it as as a James H Porter house, formerly the Cross Hills Tavern. Opened as the Blue Bell again by J D Wetherspoon in October 2013.
Local history not only includes mining but also "burling and mending" when a famous Bradford textile mill, short of labour set up a finishing operation in Hemsworth. Fittingly as the Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle is so close, there is a fine work entitled "burling and mending" in the open air behind the pub. The wash basins are crafted from metal casks.
This Pub serves 2 changing beers and 3 regular beers.
