The King & Queen has a table service only policy with 'please wait to be seated' signs; booking tables is advised, even just for drinks. Previously, service charges were automatically to your bill, even for just drinks, which are priced at up-market levels. March 2025 reports say that 20% VAT is now added to the bill. Prices 'displayed' outside or inside the pub must include VAT, but this does not apply to the menus themselves.
Set back from the High Street with a gravelled garden seating area in front. Known all over the world by sailors as 'The Rum Pub' and voted as The World's Best Yachting Bar in the World 2014. The single bar has an eclectic mix of well lived in décor with sturdy tables & chairs, benches with scatter cushions & maritime themed artwork. To the right of the bar and down a couple of steps is a restaurant area. Food is mainly a gastro lunch based menu, with a special steak menu on Thursday plus roasts on Sunday.
