Historic Interest
The pub opened around January 1979 and sold only Keg beer. However by September 1980 six handpumps had appeared for the now Cask Wilsons Mild and Bitter. In May 1981 this was a Wilsons pub selling Mild and Bitter (H). There was a list in March 1982 of the managed pubs belonging to Tudor Taverns, but it said it did not sell cask beer which it did! By July 1982 it was reported that Websters beers were to arrive. In May 1984 Tudor Taverns had been renamed as Pennine Host though they were more commonly refered to as Pennine Joke! By September 1984 the pub had been refurbished and renamed Barnabys. By June 1985 it was branded as an OPEN HOUSE perversely this meant they only served drinks to Diners. The pub was demolished only 21 years after it was built, in this context Joke seems somewhat more appropriate than Host?
