A popular local community pub in a Grade II listed building dating back to 18th century: a wooden wall panel lists landlords from 1726 to present owners Nick and Jane Witham, who took over in 1986. Water jugs, pictures, old pub photographs, cups and trophies and local memorabilia adorned the walls. In the Gents toilet, modified polished Stainless-steal beer casks used as urinals. In the front door attractive leaded glass with the legend “Bar“. Good choice of real ales, and an extensive wine list. Five handpumps always in use with a guest beer from local breweries often available. Quiz night is the last Tuesday in the month. Beyond the bar is a dining room, known as Squiffy's Restaurant. They serve an extensive menu of tapas and traditional foods. For Sunday lunches booking is essential. The pub now serves breakfast from 7.30am to 10am (Mon -Sat) in Squiffy's partly due to the accommodation offered but is also open to passers by (see sign in street).
