Reopened 24/11/2024 as Haus, the sister venue to the original Fallowfield site. Styling itself as a Mexican-inspired bar and restaurant. The interior is not large, yet they manage to make good use of it with a disparate array of furniture seemingly crammed into a relatively small space. Beyond the bar there is a small additional seating area at the rear. An array of furniture styles provides for comfort in the narrow space. Quirky, and a fun place to drink and socialise. Can get very busy inside and out, so you may have to stand at the bar.

Historic Interest

Closed 7/11/2024 as Mary & Archie (second time round) as according to the owners, the business was no longer viable. This was the smallest and the longest-established of the Burton Road bars and was possibly more characterful and quirky than its later-arriving cousins. The interior was not large, yet they manages to make good use of it with a disparate array of furniture seemingly crammed into a relatively small space. Beyond the bar there was a small additional seating area at the rear. An array of furniture styles provided for comfort in the narrow space. Cupcakes and such were available during the day, supplemented by a full menu from opening time till 9 daily. Latterly, the cask beer was a feature here with three beers normally being on, usually from but not always local such as First Chop, Marble, Hornbeam, and Dark Star breweries. No cask cider, but good bottled variants complimented a range of British and foreign bottled beers. From 10/9/2018 till Feb 2019 was the Shack, but that did not work out, so reverted to former owners and name. Closed 30/7/2018 as Mary & Archie seemingly for good as the owners wanted to concentrate their efforts on their larger, sister outlet in Chorlton. Began trading as Mary & Archie (the name reflecting the names of the owner's parents) in June 2011 following a change of ownership. Originally opened in converted retail premises c.1/1/2008 as Silver Apples on Orchard Street.
