JD Wetherspoon pub and hotel opened in July 2011 after extensive refurbishment. Dining area extension into former patio area and conversion of former car park to patio area with extensive seating in 2019. Located next to the Corn Exchange, it is well located in Newbury's historic market place, near the bus and rail station and canal. There are several seating areas within this large pub with TV only in the front bar. A real fire in the front bar. Two sets of handpumps are positioned at each end of the divided bar with several beers from local breweries such as Windsor & Eton, Stonehenge, Loddon and Twickenham. Real cider served from boxes stored in fridges behind the bar. Large patio area with outdoor seating at rear. On Wednesdays a cellar dash, for guest beers not yet on the bar, sees up to 12 Real Ales available.
