Pub name said to refer to Mopsey, leading dog in a pack of hunting hounds which actually belonged to Robert Crowther who was the landlord in the 1890's, although Baines's Directory of Yorkshire 1822 cites "Jon Ward vict Mobsey". A roomy suburban local with an imposing façade.
