Known to locals as Lane Ends, since it stands alongside Lane Ends Lane, this attractive stone built pub opened in the 1840s, although the building is 400 years old. Located between Hebden Bridge and the moors, it offers good views of the surrounding countryside. The entrance leads directly into the front lounge, with tables and chairs for diners, bare stone walls, an original stone fireplace, paintings by a local artist and an old 'clocking in' machine. To the left there's a cheerful seating area, which contains yet more paintings, all of which are for sale. The bright, modern but appropriate bar faces a separate seating area, with a door leading onto the patio and its excellent views. Further on, there's a second lounge, again with an old stone fireplace.
