This Pub is Permanently Closed
Originally an old coaching inn with 15th century barn and stables, this building has seen many changes. During much of the 19th century, and the early part of the 20th, it was the premises of F. Gurney & Son who were licensed grocers and victuallers. It then became a Hennekey wine bar and latterly a steak house and has now emerged as a Roast Inns pub-cum-restaurant. The sign depicted the hand of the Archangel Gabriel with that of the Virgin Mary.
Historic Interest
C18 or early C19. Painted brick. Two-storeys. Two sash windows on first floor. Vehicular through passage under right-hand end. C2O shopfront across rest.
