Two-bar community pub near Newbury RFC and the site of the first Battle of Newbury, 1643. This two-bar community pub has traded under its present name since 1761. The lounge bar has a partial wall with a fireplace, which separates it from a smaller dining area. The separate public bar offers darts, pool, TV and juke-box. There is a large car park. The beer garden is due to be in reinstated in the Spring (2027).

Under new management with Martin as landlord since October 2026 with beer free of tie. Meals available from mid October. Menu may include Sea bass and home made pies. There are plans to introduce a regular pub quiz evening. Refurb' expected in 2027.
