Dating from 1796, this stone-built former coaching inn stands on what was once the Great North Rd. It comprises a large L-shaped split level bar, with a real fire. Photos from times past adorn the walls.

Up to seven real ales, many from local micro breweries, are available. The secluded south-facing patio boasts a mounting block from the days of horse riding.
