In the 1991 East London & City Beer Guide it was described as "Had a lot of Victorian wood carving enhance the Marquetry portraits and scenes worked in rosewood. Darts can be private function. The pub prides itself on not having music (hurrah). Another pub, like the Shades next door, that was demolished to produce another 20th century glass eyesore." Replaced at a new address of 1 Poultry, EC2R 8EJ.
