This Club is Permanently Closed
This is a club, which means that the bar may be only open to members.
Grade II Listed - Early to mid C19. Formerly a chapel. Simple, ashlar three bay buttressed front. Weathered cornice string and parapet coping. Saddlestones to gable ends of slate roof. Outer bays of front have tripled lancets, centre ones taller, flanking entrance bay with pointed arched blocked doorway; drip mould on carved stops. Former Sunday School extension to right hand, of sandstone "brick" with mullioned transomed windows.
Now a supermarket. The date of closure of the club and use as a shop is unknown. A planning application validated on 15 Feb 1985 (ref. 85/00984/LBC) for a fascia sign hints at use as a shop. A more recent application validated on 22 Nov 2019 (ref. 19/04872/FUL) to change the store to residential use was rejected.
