This Pub is Closed Long Term
This large and smart establishment dates from 1271. It was originally a couple of cottages, one of which was used as a beer house. It was considerably extended in the 1950s, including using materials originally from the Houses of Parliament and the old Coventry Cathedral. There are a number of attractive areas all served from a long central bar and outside is a terraced garden. Good food is served each day from 12-9 in both the restaurant and the bar. There is also a carvery open from 12-3 (Monday to Saturday), 11:30-4 (Saturday) and 11:30-8 (Sunday). The pub is also open for breakfast each day from 8am. A major refurbishment in May 2011 saw the creation of a boutique hotel on site with en-suite rooms. The guest ale usually comes from one of the larger national brewers. The pub closed in 2019,supposedly for refurbishment but has deteriorated over the years amnd it looks very unlikely that it will re-open.
Currently closed for refurbishment - expected to re-open end of 2023 or early 2024.
