This Pub is Closed Long Term
Formerly the Grantley Arms, a 17th century vine covered inn housing a first class dining pub in an hilltop village between Nidderdale and Wensleydale. In spite of looking every inch a Dale's village pub the interior is modernly decorated to a high standard and equipped mainly for dining, although hints of an older pub still show through. Apart from a pair of bar stools, Britannia tables, albeit square topped, and a small upholstered bench, the furniture is tables and chairs permanently set out for meals. Décor is a mix of plain, papered and panelled walls adorned with tasteful watercolours and plates, the village pub is echoed in tractor adverts and horse brasses. The ceiling is notable for old chamfered beams and planks in mellow colours rather than fake blackening. It has been under the same ownership for over 15 years, and the staff are extremely pleasant and helpful.
