Now re-opened, following a lengthy closure, the Golden Lion is conveniently situated close to the west side of the swing bridge, just tucked away up Golden Lion Bank. A warm welcome is guaranteed at this traditional small, friendly, timeless Grade ll listed pub, where locals and visitors alike experience a great atmosphere and where nothing appears to have changed over the decades.
Er.... except that it has now reopened as an Irish themed pub, the only Irish themed pub in Whitby. However, it is still a proper pub with a great atmosphere. Tetley Bitter, two guest beers and four Irish whiskeys are served. Details of Irish bands and Gaelic football/hurling are posted on social media. For the numismatists among us, the tables in the lounge are adorned with old pennies.
