Attractive hotel developed from two private houses in 1860 by the Clark family who still own it. The restaurants and bars have been completely restored but retain the original ambience with an abundance of dark wood, flagstone floors throughout and four roaring fires. The meals have an emphasis on quality local produce. Two real ales are served in the cocktail bar and there is one pump in the lively public bar (open from 5pm on weekdays) to one side. To complement the ales, the hotel also has an impressive range of malt whiskies and knowledgeable staff.
