This Pub is Permanently Closed
Having reverted to the Fox after a 2002 refurbishment costing £650,000, this is a large, plush, split level pub with two distinct areas and three function rooms. Comedy club on Thursdays, followed by three nights of karaoke, DJs and live music. Originally the We Anchor in Hope until rebuilt as the Cedars in 1882 and renamed the Fox in 1972. It has had several name changes since then.
Closed in 2007, part of the upstairs appears to have been used as a wine bar called the Crescent and now a live music venue Black Velvet - the ground floor has been a Sainsbury's since 2011.
