This Pub is Permanently Closed
This much-missed former GBG-listed free house closed its doors suddenly and without explanation on 16 November 2014. Originally a terrace of 4 woodcutters' cottages, it had traded since 1832 (possibly earlier) and was very popular with walkers, diners and CAMRA members. Several successful beer festivals were hosted. A sad loss.
The older of the images (thanks to www.dover-kent.com) dates from 1955 and suggests that the pub may have been tied to Courage at that point.
