This Pub is Permanently Closed
The Fleet Tavern began life as The Fleetway Tavern in 1938, but later changed its name, possibly to assert a connection with Gravesend & Northfleet FC (now Ebbsfleet United), known to fans as 'The Fleet'.
Part of the Truman's tied estate, it served the local community until around 1993 and then stood empty for a few years before it predictably 'went on fire', in accordance with local custom and practice. The site is now occupied by housing, of which there must have been a shortage in the area at the time.
