The former Great Northern became Smokeworks in 2017, initially as part of CambsCuisine but now as a separate identity. Darts is now the theme, hence the Slingers name. Bar area to the left of the door is set up for drinkers. To the right is the darts area and downstairs in the cellar is the restaurant area. The food is fairly meat oriented ('pulled' is a word used often), but there are vegetarian options. No cask ale since Covid. Craft keg offerings include house beer, Smökevurks by local brewery BrewBoard, as well as other interesting beers.

Smokeworks Slingers closed for a rebranding during April 2026. It reopened as The Fat Lounge in late June 2026 offering pizzas and burgers as well as beer and other drinks.
