The former Thomas Farley, which closed in 2016, is now named the Elgon View after a mountain on the Kenya/Uganda border. The pub has re-opened as a sports bar and restaurant. Sports TV is available. Unfortunately much of the historical interest, for example the snooker room, does not feature as part of the current premises. The bar was very briefly called the Atlantic Bar in April 2024, before being repossessed by the landlords.
Historic Interest
The Victorian splendour and later Art Deco features seem now to have been lost on conversion. Thomas Farley served 33 years on Croydon Board of Governors and 20 years on Local Board of Health. Died 1881 and buried in Queens Road Cemetery.
