Country Inn in a grade II listed Georgian manor house, the former home of the 1st Earl of Strafford Sir Thomas Wentworth. Formerly a Stonegate pub it reopened on October 4th 2025 as part of Harper Inns small pub group. Now has up to three real ales on the bar. Changing beers can be from local or further afield breweries. Other beers wines, sprits and cocktails are available, along with specialist coffees. Offers an extensive food menu served throughout the day. It is advisable to book a table for a meal. Features a 'Locals Bar' with an interactive dartboard and toad in the hole game. Situated in the centre of the village on the main A630 between Rotherham and Doncaster, next to St John the Baptist Church and opposite Manor Gardens Nursery. An outside terrace at the rear of the pub over looks open fields and hedges. The pub was Saved from closure and conversion to an old folks home in 1994. Camping is available at the nearby Hooton Lodge.
