In May 1981 this was a Whitbread pub it was one of the few pubs to sell the Special Cask Bitter. This was followed by Duttons Bitter then Hartleys XB and Castle Eden Ale ,which then changed to Trophy Cask Bitter (H) by 1985. A Joint social with South Lancs Branch on July 10th 1980 was held here with Lancashire Hotpot. A further social and hotpot was held in September. Branch meeetings were held on April 7th and June 2nd 1982, there was a Whitbread speaker on the latter date. The Pub was included on the Bonfire night marathon pub crawl. Branch Meetings were held here on May 4th 1983 , July 18th 1984 and February 6th 1985, followed by a social on November 1985 and another Branch Meeting on February 5th 1986. By October 1986 the Castle Eden Ale had become Winter months only, this was because it was only drunk the local college students. A Branch Meeting was held here on September 13th 1988. It was listed in the 1989 Bolton Beer Guide as selling Castle Eden Ale and Trophy Cask Bitter. On March 17th 1989 a St Particks night social was held here followed by a Branch Meeting on June 6th and a student social on November 21st. By June 1990 Boddingtons Bitter had replaced the Castle Eden Ale. The Xmas Curry crawl started here on December 28th 1990. In the Great North Western Beer Festival Programme in 1992, it was listed as selling Boddingtons Bitter and Trophy Cask Bitter. The pub was visited on the Daubhill Pub Crawl of February 17th 1994, followed on July 7th by a Branch Meeting. By January 1996 the pub had been noted as being closed on several occasions with several landlords complaining of the high rents. In February 2000 the pub was for sale followed in June by building work. By 2003 the pub was called Surya and served Indian Food, By 2010it was back to being the Derby Arms but now there was no cask beer available. By 2024 it was renamed Gee's bar and later in 2025 seemed to be no longer be a pub but more of a restaurant and hair studio!
