De-Tracey's, Bovey Tracey

Housed in what was once the town's Conservative Club, the pub is named after the family who became the Lords of the Manor, following the Norman Conquest of 1066. The most famous descendent of which was William deTracey, who was one of the three assassins of Archbishop Thomas Becket, in Canterbury Cathedral on 29 December 1170. One tradition of the old Conservative Club has been maintained, in that the first floor Snooker Room still remains in use, albeit with the addition of a pool table. The bar on the ground floor is comfortably furnished, with the bar itself having four handpumps, of which three are usually in constant use. Food is served from midday to 2pm and from 5.30 to 7.30pm but only on a seasonal basis. Please phone first to check.
