This Pub is Closed Long Term

The Cottage Tavern is under threat and with it, the cohesion and wellbeing of its isolated local rural community

There is a ‘one- time-only’ opportunity to save the pub for the community and for generations to come. The plan is to buy the Cottage Tavern and turn it into a community asset.

Asset of Community Value

Active Campaign

The pub closed in January 2024. The Cottage Tavern Community Benefit Society Limited is campaigning to save the pub. They have launched a share scheme. The pub's freehold is currently on the market for £299,000, and they have raised ~£75,000, but they have until the end of October 2026 to raise £100,000, which would help unlock match funding from other sources. Stratford-on-Avon District Council's have designated the pub an Asset of Community Value.

See this website and this BBC article for more details.
