Originally called the Slater's Arms, this was a traditional coaching inn built in the 17th century. Enlarged in the early 1970s to incorporate adjoining terraced houses and renamed The Cavalier. Major renovation in 2006, which transformed the building, creating a light, welcoming and relaxed environment but still retaining the original oak timbering and slate. Basic, light and airy bar area with stone floor and inglenook fireplace, with dining areas at each end. Brown colour scheme throughout.
Petanque court at rear. En-suite accommodation is AA 4 star. Food on a Monday is only pizzas. Friday is fish and chip night; eat in or take away. Folk music is every other Monday.
