Formerly the University & City Arms and then a successful Firkin brew pub and then a keg only 'Scream' pub, the City Arms went back to real ale for a while but has dropped it again. There is a pool room where the brewery once was, and the bar area has lots of machines amongst its brightly-coloured sofas and chairs; the pub is very student orientated with food and drink deals for them. There is no garden as such but the side pavement on Magdalen Road has progressively been enclosed.
