Within an arrow’s-range of Chepstow’s classic castle, this pub fortifies the thirsty and the hungry with consistently good beer and pies to delight – including the popular home-cooked fish pie. A three-level bar provides a variety of seating including sofas from which to admire the passing throng and enduring castle. A big back garden with fish, canaries and guinea pigs makes for a perfect place for sunshine times. Note it may close on quiet afternoons, re-opening at 6pm. Sadly, after several attempts to run this business as a going concern the coronvirus pandemic seems to have put paid to it as a pub.
