The building dates back to the seventeenth century but the first mention as a pub was in the 1851 census. There is some nice oak panelling in the bar area. The pub has a separate smoking area and a beer garden. There have been a few different owners in recent years but it now has a good reputation for meals and accommodation. Opening hours can vary.
