A popular community local pub situated one mile south of Pontetract on the main Doncaster Road((A639). Offers a wide range of well kept cask ales that are not just from the Greene King stable. An extensive beer garden to the front and side. Many sports channels are available and major publicised TV sporting events shown are very well attended. The Annual American Football Super Bowl Evening is very popular.

Sponsors the local Wakefield Raiders Team. Wakefield CAMRA 2024 Community Pub of the Year. Community events include Pride Of Pontefract Weekend, raising money for the McMillan Trust and the Guide Dogs Association and other local charities. Very dog friendly, including a regular dog menu and an organised monthly walk followed by breakfast for both dogs and owners.
