Dating from 1850 this riverside pub was originally the Spade & Beckett before becoming the George, then the George & Dragon. In the early 1970's it returned to being the Spade & Beckett. It appeared in the 1979 Good Beer Guide and also in six of the following seven editions. It later became the Rat & Parrot. In spring 2025, after extensive refurbishment, it reopened as Byron's Bear, a free of tie pub. Central bar with several distinct, comfortably furnished areas surrounding it. Its cellar is visible though windows. Five handpumps two of which offer locally brewed beers, often Papworth and Milton. Outdoor seating in large patio garden.
