Built in 1845 and newly renovated in 2014 under new ownership The Brit established early on that they would be opening primarily as a "Real Ale" Pub serving food. It has a relaxed atmosphere with rustic, quirky surroundings. The new owners renovated the pub themselves and with their eye for interior design and antiques there is something interesting wherever you look. The bar itself was made from the old doors and floorboards taken from upstairs during the renovation and there is a section of rail used to hold up the ceiling of the restaurant from "The Great Exhibition" at Crystal Palace in 1851.
Four handpumps serve two ciders and two rotating real ales, usually from a local brewery.
Food is served from 12-3pm and 6-9pm. Everything is made on the premises with Pub Classics being served at lunchtimes and Mon-Tues evenings. Other evenings see a selection of A La Carte specials being served. On Sundays they serve a traditional Sunday Roast between 12-4pm. They also do High Tea but this must be booked in advance.
There is a beautiful garden to the rear that looks over the river Afan and is a haven for anyone wanting a tranquil setting. Being a pub for all seasons there is also a hearty log fire for the colder months.
They have acoustic music evenings every second Thursday and a popular quiz on a Sunday evening. A Real Ale and Cider festival is held every second weekend in June.
This Pub serves 2 changing beers (Beers often sourced locally and constantly changing) and 0 regular beers.
